Do you remember?

Sisters, do you remember the silly things we used to do as kids? Let me refresh your memory:

Self-constructed tree house

Hanging blankets around the base of the gas tank stand and playing house

Doing a fashion show in mom's slinky robes - on the picnic table in the back yard (sorry Mom)

Sliding down the red dirt hill

Picking blackberries in the field

Sleeping in the "caravan" tent in the back yard

Picking leaves off the walnut tree with our toes while swinging in the tire swing

Damming up the creek, and making bridges across it with sheets of plywood (sorry Dad)

Telling Crystal to "go home"

Going to the Corner Store for penny candy

Sliding down the branches of Mrs. Partlow's pine tree

Throwing flowers at cars while hiding behind the maple tree

Making weird concoctions with grape juice and apple juice

I bring this up because today S. totally reminded me of us when we were kids. She wanted chocolate milk, and we're out of syrup. So, she decided to microwave two Hershey's Kisses in the bottom of a mug, then added milk. She whipped it all up with a tiny little electric frothing whisk from IKEA. The mom in me wanted to tell her to "not make a giant mess" but the kid in me thought, "that's a pretty good idea, I wonder if it will actually work." It did work. And she help the mug up to me and said, "Mom, getta look at that fizz", (frothed milk, actually.)

It sent me right back to being a kid.

Oh sisters, how glad I am that we got to grow up together. You made life fun!

We did make life fun didn't we? I hadn't thought about some of that stuff in years. One of my favs not on your list is the crazy stuff we used to do on Christmas Eve. Diaper pillows anyone?! All sleeping together, giggling, whispering, seeing the lights all distorted through the frost on our window. One of my most favorite memories of us together. Ad let us not forget pillow case ghosts- those were classic.

Oh my goodness. I totally dropped the ball on this. Christmas Eve was a classic! Pillow case ghosts. Hilarious. Our skinny, knobby knees under the pillow cases. Thank you for reminding me!
